MEET KELLY

OWNER, DREAMER + THE HEART OF LILY STONE

I am not quite sure my husband knew what he was getting himself into when he married this farm girl! I always knew I wanted to live in the country and raise a family with a big yard for my kids to play in and the freedom to safely explore nature right at home. I wanted my kids to appreciate farm life and understand what hard work and passion can accomplish. So a few years after marrying my best friend; Roland, we moved out to our 40 acre property near the sweet little town of Rosenort and that is where my dream started to unfold. We have since had two babies, our two boys; Gavin and Ryder, who are currently thirteen and eight years old.

This venture of ours is a family affair. Our kids are in the gardens with us every day in the seasonal months playing and helping us as much as they can. Our idea of a perfect day is to spend it out in the gardens, cutting, planting, or weeding and ending it with a bonfire in our backyard listening to the frogs croak in our ponds and watching the kids play in their sandbox. It doesn’t get any better than that!

We sell our flowers in the seasonal months to other floral designers in Winnipeg, some rural Manitoba florists, and of course in my own shop! I have gained a love for wedding work over the last seven years. It has become my obsession to see our blooms showing up in bridal bouquets not only from my own weddings but in other floral designers work as well. You need to have a true passion for growing flowers and there is nothing more rewarding then seeing some of your own grown blooms being used in a bouquet on a couples most special day of their life. That feeling for me is magical.

MEET NICOLE

WEDDING DESIGNER MANAGER + HAPPINESS MAKER

My approach into the flower world was by no means done intentionally. Through a chain of very unordinary events I came upon a flower farm that fulfilled my need to work with my hands and the outdoors. From there its history 😉 I dove head first into flowers and have since had no need to come up for air, I simply love it too much sifting waist deep in blooms and sunshine. I have, and continue to learn from some of the warmest and talented hearts who share my passion. And as I do so I am deeper immersed into wedding and event florals, inspired by your vision and the abundance of what our gardens offer in the seasonal months at Lily Stone Gardens.

My design philosophy is embracing of the season and what is available locally. Earthy, lush and natural with clean lines, concentrating on balance and using the movement each flower holds. I believe in making each bouquet custom, just like flowers, none quite like the one before!

Cheers!
